Kolkata - The City Of Joy Kolkata is the city of joy for its soulful embodiment of culture, love, mystery, respect, enthusiasm, and some amazing, sweet delicacies. Kolkata, as it is now referred to, is a city that upholds a perfect juxtaposition between the old world and the modern one. With the most enchanting landscape of sweet paddy fields, the city is home to a major slice of India's history and is also the haven for its contemporary legendary heritage. Kolkata is the heart of Bengal but is also the capital of West Bengal. Kolkata, the city known for its distinctive culture, has also been awarded the sobriquet of "city of joy" as well as "city of intellectuals". Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta, is the capital city of West Bengal and is in eastern India. It has earned itself the reputation of being the most cultured city in India and is also the home of India's largest state-owned enterprise. Today, as you walk down the streets of Kolkata, you will be greeted with a lot of smiles, a lot of sweet tea, and a lot of love Kolkata – Heritage and History Before independence, the British ruled India for a long time so Kolkata has a lot of British colonial buildings around the city. It is a major central/district headquarters of various ministries and departments of the Indian government, such as the postal circle's Kolkata District, Kolkata Police, etc. Kolkata – Howrah Bridge This is the Rabindra Setu Bridge which was made with steel and has no support. It just goes across the river Ganges. This was conceptualized and built by the great Indian engineer, Sir. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. It was built in the year 1958 and it is still in good condition. It is one of the longest bridges in India. Kolkata – The Taste of Bengali Food To eat this delicious fish, there's a Bengali traditional recipe that is famous all over the world. It's called "Kohra Macher Jhol" which is a spicy fish soup. It is the main food of Bengali people. Both the domestic and the foreign Bengalis eat a lot of fish & rice. Most of the fish is served with rice. The Bengalis love to take fish. From birth to death, fish & rice food is in the homes of Bengal. I know a lot about fish & rice. I was born in Bengal and grew up in street. That's why I know about fish & rice. People who live in West Bengal or any part of India know that Bengalis are good at cooking. They love to eat good food. They want their guests and family to feel special when they eat their food. One of the main things that Bengalis love to eat is fish & rice. Kolkata – Tourist Attractions Victoria Memorial is a famous museum. It is in Kolkata, India. It was built in the memory of Queen Victoria. It is the world's largest museum. It was built by the British. The architecture is mainly inspired by the Victorian era. The garden is spread over an area of 14 hectares. Victoria Memorial houses a collection of sculptures and paintings. The garden has a floral clock. The floral clock is designed in the shape of an ancient sundial. Kolkata is a great place for entertainment, and umpteen number of places of tourist attractions are here. We always hear about places like Howrah Bridge, Victoria memorial, science city, Nico Park, etc but Kolkata is also known for a lot more attractions.
