Every rabbit is unique. And when you bring a new rabbit home, it is like bringing your baby from the hospital. Rabbits need to be loved and taken care of. And of course rabbits, same as babies, need a name. A name that will be unique and special.
But naming a rabbit is not an easy task. For some people it may seem easy, but once you start, you just can't decide whatever this particular rabbit name suits this particular rabbit. But using the rules that I will outline here the task becomes as easy as one, two, three. Just remember that your pet will have to live for a long time with the name that you give him.
Keep in mind that animals usually respond better to 1 or 2 syllable names, so try not to pick a long name.
Also, don't pick a name that may sound offensive. You must be able to say your rabbit's name aloud. You probably wouldn't want other people to make fun of your pet's name.
Now take a good look at your rabbit's appearance. It can serve as a great starting point. For example, if your bunny is all white, you might name it "Snowflake" or "Snow White". Also, depending on the color of the fur, you can use such names as "Smoky", "Silver", "Black Jack", "Velvet", "Tuxedo" and so on.
Take into consideration the gender of the rabbit. There are names that can be only appropriate for a buck or a doe. For example, it might be a bad idea naming your buck rabbit "Brenda" or "Peggy".
Pet's personality can give a clue to choosing a name. Your rabbit likes to run around? Call him "Lightning". Is it playful? "Rascal" can be a great name for him. You've got a mischievous bunny? Just name him "Bandit".
Also, you can always name your rabbit after a famous person or a fictional character. "Gilligan", "Starbuck", "Einstein", "Napoleon", even "Darth Vader" can be a great name.
If you follow these basic rules, I'm sure you will come up with some great names for your rabbits. Just tap into your imagination and let it run wild.
