Maruti Suzuki October 2019 Sales: Maruti Suzuki India logs 4.5% growth in October sales | India Business News

NEW DELHI: Beating the prolonged passenger vehicle sales slowdown, the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Friday reported a 4.5 per cent rise in sales at 1,53,435 units in October.

The company had sold 1,46,766 units in October last year, MSI said in a statement.

Domestic sales increased by 2.3 per cent at 1,39,121 units last month as against 1,35,948 units in October 2018, it added.

The mini cars segment, however, witnessed a plunge. Sales of Alto, WagonR (old) and the newly-launched S-presso stood at 28,537 units as compared to 32,835 units in the same month last year, down 13.1 per cent.

The compact and utility vehicles segments were the top gainer for Maruti Suzuki India, registering 15.9% and 11.3% growth in October 2019, respectively.

The company sold 75,094 units of new WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Dzire in the compact segment in October 2019, up from 64,789 units sold in the same period last year.

India’s largest carmakers manufacture Ertiga, XL6, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Gypsy in the utility vehicles segment. Overall, 23,108 units of UVs were sold last month, noting a jump from 20,764 units sold last year.
