Amul Lodges Extortion Complaint Against UP Man for Uploading ‘Slanderous Video’ on Social Media

Ahmedabad Anand-based Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), proprietor of the Amul logo of milk merchandise, has lodged an FIR towards a person for allegedly slandering its `Amul Gold’ milk on social media.

The grievance used to be registered in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh, GCMMF stated right here on Saturday. Ashutosh Shukla, resident of Prayagraj, uploaded a deceptive video on social media platforms claiming that the Amul Gold milk curdles as it accommodates plastic and might be toxic, the grievance stated.

When GCMMF officers asked the accused to withdraw the video and prevent spreading false data, he demanded Rs 10 lakh, the complainant, a GCMMF legit from Varanasi, informed Karnalgunj police.

A case used to be registered towards Shukla beneath IPC sections 386 (extortion), 499 (defamation) and in addition beneath the Information Technology Act.

GCMMF Managing Director RS Sodhi stated that “Amul needs to ship the message that no person who tries to deceive the shopper relating to its merchandise on social media shall be spared”.
